I waited for my birth mom at the train station by the water in San - TopicsExpress

I waited for my birth mom at the train station by the water in San Clemente. I sat with a couple who asked who I was waiting for. When I shared my story the husband said, Are we being punked!? When I told him it was real, his wife cried. The train pulled up. My birth mom got off at the back of the train and we walked toward each other smiling and waving. We walked a little faster, and then...we embraced, sobbed, and couldnt let go. We held each other and sobbed some more. Then we stepped back and looked at each other with tears in our eyes. I saw myself for the first time in 49 years! She said, I feel like Im in a movie! It was beyond surreal. We walked to a restaurant on the water while staring at each other and laughing. We sat down and couldnt believe we were together. More staring. We laughed and we cried. We shared stories and pictures. I brought my baby book and shared that with her. She gave me a letter from one of my half sisters. We laughed and cried some more. We told the waitress why we there and she said, Oh my gosh that is incredible, Im adopted too. She was overwhelmed and just started to cry. What a moment. We couldnt believe it. Then my birth mom and I talked about what I should call her. She said, You cant call me mom because that is for your mom and I cant take that from her. She is the one who stayed up with you when you were sick and was there for you every day. I put my hand on my heart because I was so touched. She said she looked up how to say mom in Russian and in Hebrew. I decided Im going to call her mamochka...mom in Russian. She loves it, I love it. Ive always held my Russian side dear because that is one of the few things I knew about her growing up. It is why I named our daughter Tatiana. Today was magical. My heart was full before we met and now its overflowing. Im grateful beyond any words that can ever be expressed! Next up a meeting with mamochka, my hubby Jamie Wise and her hubby. So much more to come and so many more people to meet on this amazing new adventure of our families lives. PS...a big thank you to ALL of you for the calls, messages, texts, facebook messages and posts. You continue to add such love and support to my journey and I am forever grateful.
