“I waited patiently and expectantly for the Lord; and He - TopicsExpress

“I waited patiently and expectantly for the Lord; and He inclined to me and heard my cry.” Psalm 40:1 (Amplified) One morning I went to go sit in a chapel. I had been sick from my blood pressure, depression and having major panic attacks. I was unable to step into the house of the Lord because my fear was so great. At that moment that I had the courage to move I felt a precious privilege to step into His sanctuary and participate in worship. They began to sing, “Everlasting God.” “Strength arise as we wait upon the Lord, as we wait upon the Lord…” and God began to give me a renewed revelation about waiting. I prayed everyday for my healing, but healing did not manifest as quickly as I hoped. I have been waiting for restoration, waiting to get back to ministry and waiting and waiting and still waiting. Have you ever been in a place in your life where God instructs you to wait? It can be so hard to wait. In our fast paced society that does not like to wait for anything, we don’t like waiting in fast food lines. We roll through stop signs. We don’t even like to wait for people to finish talking before we speak or leave a message. We’ve become a culture that has lost the value of the 4th fruit of the spirit, “patience.” We want something to do to fill in the time, but God says, “Wait My daughter.” With tears streaming down my face, I realized I could wait, needed to and wanted to wait for whatever God wants to do next in my life. It reminded me of the times in the Bible, God tells us to wait. Jesus tells His disciples to go to Jerusalem and wait for the gift His Father promised. The disciples knew nothing of the Holy Spirit and had no idea what they were waiting for. Romans 8:19 says, “The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons (and daughters) of God to be revealed.” And I Thess. 1:10 tells us “we are to wait for his Son from heaven.” God is doing something on the inside of us that yet cannot be put into words. We don’t need to know how long; we just need to be obedient and wait. We need to wait patiently, with eager expectation for Jesus Christ to reveal himself to us for blessed are all who wait for Him. Thank You Lord for the strength and patience to wait. I wait patiently with eager expectation for what You desire for me. Help me to be strong and take heart in Jesus Name, Amen.
