I wake up at 4:00 AM with thoughts that make me wonder where that came from but here it is: with the government shut down and the effects of it, many people in our area may be needing assistance in the coming days in ways that they have never ever had to consider before. I know how it is to live paycheck to paycheck and if I was without a paycheck for a week it would be difficult! My thought is this, we need to find local food banks in our own hometown/county and start doing food drives to support them, if there are none in your area then start one! We are going to need to convince those effected that their is nothing wrong with asking for help, I would bet it is safe to say the vast majority of us would have trouble if we were without paychecks. If the government re opens then the food banks will be able to make use of the food. I know here at Plainview we have a home football game next Friday, I suggest we ask people to bring can goods to donate at the gate. I can provide transportation to get it where it needs to go. With all that being said and me sounding crazy, I will ask for comments/suggestions and see what others think. Constructive criticism welcome, but send me a message if its real bad lol. If you know of an organization that has a food bank let me know and I will seek their input. I think the Rover Baptist Church has or had one and I think the Havana Assembly of God does one.
