I wanna hear YOUR thoughts people on this. I am actually with the police force on this one. Yes, I was a free range kid myself if that implies handling myself outdoors at a young age. When I look at my kids Im just like poor things, I had so much more... lol. I went to the park alone , would stay all day til 6 at times. ....ride my bike as far as literally 30-40 blocks.. & did more than that even. With that being said I do recall ONE incident i cannot forget. I think I was about 9, Walking home from a friends house who lived about a good 10 blocks away. I was up the hill from home, and a man alone in his car slows down , rolls down his window and asks if I may go in his car to show him how to get somewhere. I clearly remember how I kept walking, kept my cool, and calmly said no...then I looked straight ahead...not stopping. I also remember he lingered on for a few seconds ...then drove away. I never told my parents. Not sure why, but I just didnt. In my innocence I probably forgot about him within a few minutes. Maybe he was innocent....but come on now, right? Thats the typical kidnapper line & the block was quiet & secluded. So, no. I would never let my kids walk anywhere alone at such a young age.
