I want my husband Bryan Thompson to quit smoking cigarettes. It is something that has been bothering me now that my son in law is going through lung cancer, and he never smoked. I simply dont understand his laissez faire attitude. We are no longer in the prime of our lives, and people, friends, family are dying, or being diagnosed with Cancer, Heart disease, you can probably think of more. Bryan states he has no good argument, no leg to stand on so he wont even discuss this with me One day a man says to our Pastor «Im offended by the billboard on that stretch of highway» After a moment the Pastor responded «then go a different way!» I think that is «how you begin quitting something, and if you NEVER start youll NEVER stop. Does ANYBODY UNDERSTAND, or is this truly a losing battle, and Ill just end up a Widow, or worse caring for a husband with Emphysema or on Oxygen. My reply to his wanting me to stay home and nurse him will probably be We both know you did this to yourself, and I still want to live. Geesh, do I make any sense anybody¿¿¿¿¿??????? Ive tried to say Oh well but Lord with Nate getting Cancer this is up close and personal, and it causes a person to re-think the things we do and the effects it may cause, not just to Bryan which would be bad, but me as wife, and our grown children who love their Father very much. I cannot happily pretend its okay to continue on a stupid road. I wish I just didnt care it would be so much easier. Feel free to offer advice and opinions because Im at a loss for words. I just cant think of anything more logical to say to him Ive said everything I could possibly think of, using pictures of lungs that were black, and medical facts, and he said he already knows. Ugh, and the smell gets on literally everything, breath, hair, fingers, coat and personal clothing. Honestly, I feel a lot of his everyday sinus problem has to do with smoking. Yup, and sometimes hell wake me with wheezing ...so I cannot relate to purposely enslaving a body to this harmful practice. It makes no sense. Okay, done venting. His death wish not mine. Ooh yeah weve even done the hiding and lying thing too ...guess that goes with the habit hand in hand. Tonight I asked Bryan to «name one friend who doesnt smoke, toke or drink» Yup, he couldnt name even 1. WoW, thats because you gravitate towards those people you are the most like. Sad, guess I should start planning my just in case scenario.
