I want to let everyone know just how AWFUL AND COLD the CENTRAL - TopicsExpress

I want to let everyone know just how AWFUL AND COLD the CENTRAL HUMANE SOCITEY in Columbia is. I am dumbfounded and at a loss for words at the way they have treated us since this last Wednesday while we tried to adopt a dog... To fill anyone in who doesnt know, we lost our amazing, loving, and sweet 13 week boy Poncho who was a Great Dane/Boxer mix not too long ago due to his kidneys failing and as hard as we tried, we could not save him. My 10 year old daughter (as well our whole family and our dog Lefty) was heartbroken to say the least. Lefty has howled every night since Ponchos death. Not to my knowing, my husband has been looking high and low to find another companion for our daughter and the family. Wednesday he happened upon a Great Dane/Boxer mix that was PONCHOS BROTHER! Now, we know every dog is different and there is no replacing Poncho but we wanted Andy with all our heart. I listened as Josh called and talked with the Central Humane Scociety in Columbia, Mo. and tell them our story. He told them that we were prepared to make the drive 3 hours right then and adopt Andy as we had already filled out the adoption paperwork and had it sent over. We were shocked to hear them say that someone had said they might want him and that we couldnt adopt him until they saw him. We ask why they would want to wait on someone who they didnt even know was coming rather than to send him to a forever home with a family that desperately wanted him. They said it was protocol. We also ask if they could let the family know about our situation and see if they were willing to let us adopt him since they had never even met him. They said they did tell the family and they said, no. So, they told us that the family was coming the next day and they would call us if they didnt adopt him. I called the next day and ask if they had shown up and they said no they werent coming that day after all. I was shocked when they then again denied us from adopting him and told me that it just means they have lives outside of adopting a dog. As if we didnt. So, my husband then called to see if he could figure out why this was happening like this. They then LIED and said they never said the family would come Thursday or even Friday or Saturday. And that maybe we should just look in Springfield for another dog. I thought that the Humane Societys point was to put the right family with right dog, but I feel differently now. To me and my husband, we feel that Andy (who we wanted so much) was going to a friend or family member because they changed their stories so many times about Andy and his adoption that it just doesnt make sense. Well, just now Saturday afternoon they called and said Andy was adopted. I am beside myself with anger at how we were treated through this whole process. They were the most COLD AND BITTER two women I have ever spoke with. Its like they were just treating us like this because they could and we couldnt do anything about it. The main directors name is Julie and the woman in charge of the foster care was Brooke. I am shocked that the board even lets them have this position to deal with others. They have no social skills and in my opinion have no care who adopts what. I am leaving reviews about this place anywhere I can find to maybe keep 1 other person from going through what we did with this Horrible Facility. I got on their FB page and as read some of their reviews that I will attach. I now see others have had horrible dealings with them as well. It just shows that I am not a crazy lunatic who is going overboard with my review of the Central Humane Scociety because I just didnt get what I wanted. We all wanted Andy and if the Central Humane Society didnt lie, twist, and deny us from getting Andy when they clearly didnt have someone to adopt him on Thursday then I wouldnt be so upset. They clearly had some agenda and we will never know, but I truly hope Andy went to a home that will love him as much as we would have.... Please share this to as many as possible so that hopefully they wont hurt another family and that maybe the board for the Central Humane Scociety will see that these two women need a different job that has nothing to do with dealing with the public.
