I want to let everyone know that we are not being cruel to the chocolate lab that always lays in my yard. She is my in laws and is severely over weight ( yes we know it is as cruel as starving an animal) however each year when she is with us as she did last year she lost approx.. 90 lbs. yes 90 lbs. She has a thyroid problem and is on meds but she over heats when she is inside and pants constantly and barks her head off to go outside. So we put her out, the porch door is open and there is a bed and a comforter out there for her and when she gets cold or the wind bothers her she goes on the porch. We realize with the cold and wind that some must think we are awful but she is not tied and there is shelter she just chooses to not be inside we have to coax her in at night. At 2:30 am this morning she had a barking, panting ,wining fit to go out, Leigh got up thinking she had to go to the bathroom and she went down the steps and laid down...he was not happy cause then he had to coax her back in and she is stubborn! and way to heavy to pick up.
