I want to post a retraction and an apology for my comments about the Mississippi Museum of Art last week regarding Ace at art camp. There was a lot of miscommunication and I reached an incorrect conclusion. After further communication, I now realize that the Museum actually did do their very best to accommodate Ace but as usual his behavior was so out of control that he couldnt be in a classroom setting. I do apologize for casting the Museum in a poor light and that was never my intention - Im almost always the first to accept, retreat, and apologize when Aces behavior causes a problem, but again, I misunderstood the circumstances. I was both disappointed and angry when I posted that status because I had looked forward to that week so, so much, both for the alone time and the social benefits for Ace, but I now understand and will accept that its just another thing Ace cant do. There are some camps coming up for kids with special behavioral needs and our church has offered to take him for after-school care twice a week so please send your thoughts and prayers that hell be able to survive those because he desperately needs the social interaction and hey, Ill be honest, after a year of near total seclusion, I really need the time away from him.
