I want to post this for some of Antonios fans. He is the strongest bravest little man well even big man I have ever met. I know children are resilient and dont fully understand the severity of the illness making it easier to b ebrave but Antonio is a very smart advanced young man. He is aware of the worst case senerios and has seen allot more then we wished him to see living inside a hospital for as long as he did. His strength and determination is inspiring. So much so that it has changed me as a person and as as mom. I will never allow something to get to my spirit as he has not allowed it. Today we see the bright light at the end of that very long and dark tunnel. I wanted to share Antonios day today. If you ever questioned who what where when why or how...this will answer all of that. Today Antonio went to sickkids hospital where he can not eat until his procedure is complete. We arrive at 9am and he is accessed. .which means they put an Iv in his hand and take blood to make sure his blood counts are good. We wait for blood counts as we weigh height vitals etc. .once he is cleared and a doctor has seen him we go for his lumbar puncture. They sedate him and once asleep they remove a small amount of spinal fluid and inject chemo (methotrexate ) into his spin via needle. When he wakes they monitor his vitals till he is stable and awake. Then they give him vincristine chemo through his IV. Today it leaked and he needed needed a second iv started to finish the chemo but then needed Morphin and lorazapam to keep him calm and relaxed so they can flush under his skin to make sure it doesnt need plastics involved. Exhausting! The picture is of Antonio sleeping still with the needle mark on his back. If you see Antonio on a regular day you would never know he goes through this kind of stuff..but this strong man has been living this world since November 1 st 2011. But March 23rd 2015 it will be over. It will take 3 months for his counts to come back up and for his ammunition system to stabilize but Cancer Free! Thanks to everyone for following and I will never close this group as Antonio will need a humbling reminder throughout his whole life this is my journal for him.
