I want to share my friends pride and excitement about his country. Oh and about how great how Costa Rica is doing in FIFA Worlds Cup. Thanks Alvaro A. Salas-Castro Costa Rica (4ish million people country, the size of West Virginia) we are more than a soccer team: - We have a astronaut with seven Space Shuttle missions, making him the record holder as of 2014 for the most spaceflights - Costa Rica is the first high-tech exporter in Latin America and fourth in the world (World Bank, 2013). - We have a Nobel Peace Prize - Cornell University in New York, INSEAD in France and the World Intellectual Property Organization highlighted Costa Rica as #1 throughout Latin America in the Global Innovation Index, above countries such as Brazil, Chile and Mexico. - We are one of the most sustainable countries in the world - We abolished our army and have one of the longest standing and respected democracies in the world - Dr. Michael Porter (Harvard University) Social Progress Index, ranks Costa Rica in the top positions of the Index in different categories - We are known to have a few of the best looking women on the face of earth - 3 of us took over a 250 students MPA program at Cornell and now a few Chinese students called it the Costa Rican Institute for Public Affairs rather than the Cornell Institute for Public Affairs - We have one of the best business schools in the world and the best one in Latin America (INCAE BUSINESS SCHOOL) - We are the happiest country in the world according to the indexes that measure this ( And trust me that today after beating Italy that will be more than a fact). - We are leading the group of death in the 2014 World Cup eliminating England and still we have one more game against them. - Our President is celebrating today with the people in the streets with no special guarded armed forces or secret services. As I said a few days ago, this quote can be applied to our country in so many levels: We don’t sit back; we break forward. This is a new Costa Rica. Look out, because we can surprise a lot of people Bryan Ruiz, Costa Rica Football Team Captain.
