I want to share my vision of NavKaushalya This is a new initiative of Navrachana Education Society to be inaugurated by Hon. Chief Minister Anandiben Patel on Sunday, December 21,at the Inaugural Program of Navrachanas Golden Jubilee Year Celebrations. NavKaushalya is a part of Navrachana’s “Give-back-to-Vadodara initiative, and is an alternative skills-based schooling and vocational training program for girls and women, mainly from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. I have for some time now felt the need for an alternative schooling program for Classes IX and X which recognizes that not all children have the aptitude for a typical Class X curriculum. This is specially significant because the Class X examination is a very very important gateway in our education system. All recognized avenues of higher learning or vocational training open up only after a student has crossed this gateway. The difficulty is that this gateway is very narrow and does not recognize the varied abilities, competencies and interests that are natural to humans At NavKaushalya, however, we will take in girls who have studied up to Class VIII or even those who have basic literacy and number skills, and educate and train them for the next three or four years in vocations as well as a general education and other important life skills. Facilities for NavKaushalya will be created at the Bhaili Campus of Navrachana Education Society and the education for the economically disadvantaged girl child /woman will be almost free. A very eminent group of people have agreed to be on the Advisory Board of NavKaushalya and I do believe that this initiative will have a far-reaching impact in our society. NavKaushalya will be dedicated to the life and spirit of Savitaben Amin, founder of Navrachana Education Society. It will therefore be named NavKaushalya - Savitaben Amin Institute for Girls & Women.
