I want to share with you a little insight into a very much overlooked part of the Cobb’s Glen Community, the tennis courts. From reading the history of the courts, I understand that once the combination of Pool, Tennis and Golf, made Cobb’s Glen the place to be for family fun and entertainment. Over the years, the Tennis portion of that combination has lapsed into disrepair. M&D Tennis would like to rectify that by repairing, maintaining and managing the tennis facility as a community club. However we need your support. Incidents like the one I am going to describe do not support the assumption that the Cobb’s Glen Community wants the amenities of the area brought back up to par. The other day, a family came by the courts with the intention of playing; they were greeted by our Director of Tennis and politely informed that there are either membership dues or courts fees to be paid. The Cobb’s Glen Homeowner’s response was “Why do we have to Pay…we’ll just go somewhere else.” While this is definitely their prerogative, I find it a little short sighted. Firstly, they will be spending time and money to go somewhere “free” to play. Secondly, the cost for membership and/or court fees are to compensate for the cost of repairing the courts, keeping the area clean, neat and well maintained, and providing on-sight amenities. While M&D Tennis has used private funding for some of the upgrades, it will take community involvement in the form of membership and programming to bring the club up to the level it once was. Another set of facts to keep in mind is the impact that a viable recreational facility (Pool/Tennis/Golf) will have on the value of the homes in the Cobb’s Glen community. Talk to most realtors and they will tell you: That listings stay on the market longer in non-pool/tennis subdivisions; Given the choice of a comparable home in a swim/tennis neighborhood and one without those amenities, families will pick the home with amenities 90% of the time; Families love amenities! ...similarities of these subdivisions are golf, swim and tennis---offering a lifestyle... had families tell me that they had no plans for immediate use of the amenities, yet they liked the idea of choice plus they knew the added value for resale. (REMAX) Please think of all the factors including having a safe, fun environment where you and your family can gather to not only get a little exercise, but socialize, right in your own backyard. While managing Towering Pines Tennis Club at Cobb’s Glen is a business, M&D Tennis does want to be a part of and support the Anderson Community. Join us on this journey to make Cobb’s Glen the place to be once again. Thank you for your time Ronda Paige Moyers & Michael Dublin
