I want to take a moment and thank everyone who voted for me for 2014 Military Spouse of the Year. I won the first phase which was the base vote: Quantico spouse of the year. We will find out on Jan 30th who the top three finalists are for USMC Spouse of the Year with a subsequent vote on Feb 4th. All the base winners are going through a rigorous screening process where people rate each of us based on volunteer efforts, community impact, etc. My team works tirelessly to connect not only active duty Marines but veterans and military spouses to information and groups without rank. We are all in this together and recently we have began fighting against what I believe to be just the beginning of cuts coming our way with the 1% COLA cuts. Now we are learning that the Commissary is on the chopping block as well and are hearing rumors of Tricare Prime being cut for younger families. This is what we are about; fighting and protecting our benefits for everyone...not just a certain group in our military, but all of you.
