I want to take a moment to brag about someone who has become near and dear to our box and community. She joined us in April to become the person she thought she was. Strong and able. She said, Ive watched everyone in my family (both sides) be overweight and unhealthy for as long as I can remember, and it has resulted in such a low quality of life as everyone gets older (doctors, tons of medication, dialysis, walking with canes, etc.). My initial goal was to just not be a statistic. And then I lost 16 lbs. in the first month of Paleo/CrossFit, and I had never lost more than 10 with previous attempts at super low fat/low-cal diets and 12 hours of cardio a week. After that I started thinking that it might actually be possible for me to lose all the weight Ive wanted to lose since forever (previously been scared of setting a goal of more than 50 lbs. because I thought Id never reach it), and now I have an ultimate goal of losing 200 lbs. total. Since then she has been consistently working hard every week, in the gym and outside of the gym. She has had good days and she has had bad days. I am happy to say that today was better than a good day! She joined us ready for a change. She went from 354lb to 283lb - that is 71LB LOST!! She joined us not being able to hold on to the bar in a dead hang position, today she hung from that bar AND did a banded pull-up! She has been last on every single workout since April; however, I can gladly say that today that was not the case! Today was the first day she could help other people finish the WOD like they have done for her in the past. This person is Vanessa Johnson. I hope that today you feel strong and proud! She has truly become in inspiration to us all and we are very happy to have her in our community!
