I want to take a moment to share with my Facebook friends who live in the 20th State Senatorial District the reasoning behind the vote I will cast in next Tuesdays primary. Three years ago I ran in a Democratic Primary for Mayor of my City. It was then that I first met Bill Satti. Bill and I could not be more different. He being a conservative older Democrat, me a younger progressive Democrat. Bill, the son of one of the oldest and most well regarded political families in New London, me the Citys newcomer, running against the establishment. We stood firmly on opposite sides on that strongly contested primary. However, when the votes were counted on election night, the first party leader I heard from was Bill Satti. He immediately went to work, as a good party chairman should, to unite our party. Throughout my administrations time in office, as leader of the New London DTC, Bill always supported the administration, while often offering frank assessments personally on points we disagreed on. In all my dealings with Bill I can say he has always been upfront and honest and he has never broken his word to me on anything. He reached out to the new Democrats that joined the party ranks after my election. He fought to keep the St Patricks Day parade in New London. He worked in 2013 to elect a City Council that would work with the administration instead of continuing years of gridlock and infighting. He worked tirelessly to bring our party together and move our City forward. I got to know Bill over the last several years and I know that to him politics isnt personal, it is about the common good. Whether it has been seeing Bill in action at the State Capitol, at SCCOG, or at Party meetings, one thing has been made clear to me; Bill is honest and effective! He has great relations throughout the State and has been working for decades in a positive family tradition of public service. Bill is a loyal Democrat and great New Londoner. I hope all New London Democrats, and all Democrats throughout the 20th District, join me in voting for Bill Satti on Tuesday ! #Sattiforsenate2014
