I want to thank April and Ginger for donating hundreds of purple ribbons for our Purple Ribbon Week campaign! We are still collecting ribbons and can accept them via mail. Break the silence against domestic violence created purple ribbon week last year in an effort to educate the community about domestic violence. We chose the first week of October to kick off a month-long campaign in bringing awareness to this epidemic in classrooms, workplaces, and homes worldwide. We are asking survivors, supporters, and families who have been affected by Domestic Violence to reach out to schools, youth groups, churches, and congregations of people to become educated on this serious topic. It is our job as community members to get up and speak out! All you need to do is schedule and present during the first week of October and enlighten people with your story. It is through your testimony and personal experience that will inspire someone to break their silence and become more versed and aware of domestic violence. If you do present please let your audience know about the resources break the silence against domestic violence can offer them! If you would like tips and pointers send us a message and we would be happy to help! Also, tomorrow I will be presenting at the girls rehabilitation facility also known as juvenile hall. For the last few months we have been fund-raising to sponsor books for the inmates. We will be surprising them with these beautiful purple journals that they can take with them once they are released from custody. Each book is stamped inside with their sponsors name and our organizations contact info as a resource. Thank you for being a part of BTS!
