I want to thank Bob Cope, one of my Williams relatives, who has taken the book I wrote on the Williams family in Georgia, Virginia, Tennessee, Florida and has gone there and been there and is there now, distributing my book to all of the libraries in those cities, visiting courthouses, plantations, houses in Georgia, and restoring old cemeteries long forgotten and abandoned. In North Carolina, during the Civil War, the Lane family owned a plantation, which is now a courthouse there, it was not destroyed, like the ones in Georgia. But Bob Cope is going today to house owned by one of the Williams family there in Georgia, and he is visiting with Mr. Tuggle, another Williams family member who is 85 years old and can tell him many stories and show him many places further to go as well as houses and cemeteries. I told him to tape record him, like I did when I wrote my book on The Williams Family History, genealogies. The Lane family were Senators in North Carolina and lawyers and Judges, Virginia, Luke Williams married Mary Parr (Mary Bush) in Virginia in the 1700s and later Anna Hartsfield, Monticello, Jasper County, Georgia. He was granted land grants from the Indians and government in the 1800s in Jasper County, Monticello, Georgia. They owned plantations and grew cotton, but these were burned by Sherman in the Civil War, 1860, and the elder Williams was a preacher of Bethel Church in Jasper, Georgia, He had 10 sons, most of them died in the Civil War, but my ancestor, Nathan Melford Williams was badly wounded in that war and came to Texas, where we all descend from, he went to Lufkin, Texas, where he is buried. He married Adeline Eluisa Cornwall, descendant of Elijah Cornwall, Revolutionary War, we are members of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Colonial Dames, and Americans of Royal Descent. I am happy to see my work go forward to Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, Florida, the Carolinas with Bob Cope of Justin, Texas and I wish to thank him for all he is doing with my book.
