I want to thank a random mom I dont know for something she did yesterday afternoon. If you are that mom: Thank You. I took my own mother and daughter to our favorite ice cream shop for a special treat. Ahead of us in line was a young mother holding a small baby. When the mother went to pay for her ice cream, she dropped all of her money on the ground. Scarlet gathered it all up, handed it to her, and said Here you go! The mother replied Thank you so much, then left with her adorable baby and her ice cream. I didnt think twice about it. Then we all ordered our own ice cream, but when we went to pay, the woman behind the counter told us that the mother ahead of us had already covered our bill because she wanted to thank Scarlet for her helpfulness. This was a wonderful surprise for so many reasons: It reminded me to thank my daughter for her kind choices; it demonstrated how much those choices can mean to others; and most importantly, it gave my family the opportunity to talk about thoughtfulness and the good one person can put into the world, no matter how small. Thank you, random mother, for the sweet afternoon. I promise to pass the gift along to the next thoughtful child I encounter and their family.
