I want to thank everyone who has been so supportive and shown - TopicsExpress

I want to thank everyone who has been so supportive and shown themselves to be true friends. Im not ignoring any of your kind words, Im just spending a little time alone and contemplating what Ill be doing next (on top of school work). I do want to say that I appreciate all of you and Im glad to belong to multiple communities that have had my back this entire time. I dont know how to repay any of you. I know a lot of people are upset, disappointed and frustrated with how the elections went this year and how my campaign or Marcus/Erica didnt win. While I havent decided where my life will go next I can tell you that all the hard work we put in will not be in vain. I can ensure you that I will still be involved in some way, even if that isnt in ASPSU. Furthermore, remember that what Samuel Louis Matz and I did this year was kind of revolutionary. We had radical conversations with students, talked about how we could radically transform student government and ran a campaign that was completely transparent, without any accusation of corruption or infraction even filed against us. We ran on a promise of a clean campaign and didnt once sacrifice our integrity in the process. We did something no one has ever done. Even just having a bilingual website is something weve never seen done before. In the process I made a lot of friends I think will be around for quite some time. Ultimately, this is kind of bittersweet. My family and friends saw how this year in ASPSU, I and other women of color faced intense challenges in our work environment. They saw how I would come home upset and how much of the passion and dedication I had in my first year as a student representative had flickered out. I felt defeated, depressed and like my work didnt matter. I felt unheard, marginalized and constantly at odds with my want to help people and my want to be in a loving environment. As a two-spirit person, as a trans woman, as an Indigenous person I did something incredible. Something no one in my position had done before. It makes all the pain and barriers I overcame worth it. And I couldnt have done it without any of you. My community, my friends, my supporters and the people in ASPSU this year who stood beside me. Thank you.
