I want to thank everyone who has written in today. Your thoughts and birthday wishes are all certainly appreciated. In the meantime, dont worry, I dont plan any mid-life crisis events like Robert Downey Jr. Although I have turned that dreaded age of forty, I am actually pretty mellow at the moment. At this advanced age, I have learned a few things, and if you will allow me to elucidate, and they have certainly made me a little more philosophical. In the past 2 weeks, I lost my maternal grandfather. In the past six months, I have seen friends and colleagues die. We all have felt a sense of loss with the deaths of Robin Williams and Lauren Bacall, who contributed a sense of class to everything they did. We have seen the terrible human tragedies of the situation in Gaza, the racial injustice in Ferguson, MO; the ongoing violence in Syria, Iraq, China, et al. But despite these tragedies, I like to believe, however naively that the best days are always ahead of us. The Immortal Bard William Shakespeare wrote that we are all the substance of fables and legends. We are all alive as long as we are remembered and our stories are told. But it is also true, that if we are not pleased with our story and what direction it is going, we should take the time to write the story we would be proud of. I want to thank all of you for being better and stronger people than what people suspected. Lets work together to make the year ahead better than the last one. As in the words of Doctor Who, There must be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties. Just go forward in all your beliefs and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mine....
