I want to thank my father for nurturing in his children the desire to write (and publish). Appa would ask us if we had written anything in our school magazine when we brought it home every year. If we did, he would want to see it, otherwise hed give it a miss. My father was a strong believer in education. He would buy us books and encourage us to read. There werent many lucky as us to get Life, Time, Far East Economic Review and other magazines, including Fanfare (local entertainment mag). We were fortunate our father who was a newspaper vendor had such wisdom. Years on, both Victor Vethamani and I have continued writing and I believe it is thanks to our father who instilled this writing habit. It gave me great joy when both Victor and I were cited in the same publication and our names appeared one after another in the reference list. Our father would have been very proud to see this. I too am happy that my sons, Vince Edwin and Julian Edwin, work in professions that deal with the creative use of language. We owe it all to Appa!!
