I wanted to make a post to share with everyone in all Ball Python Groups. Since I first got into this hobby, Ive noticed it is by far filled with the most hateful people Ive ever met. You cant post a photo without someone cussing you out because you dont use paper towels as substrate. If you have 2 + snakes in a photo, might as well not even post it because people are going to have something to say about that too even if you do not house them together. Ive been learning alot here in the past few months, Ive learned what not to do, and whats the best for my snakes. Right now, yes, my snakes are in glass tanks. But their lids Ive covered with foil to hold in heat, they all have heat mats plus a lamp to help regulate the proper temps, their humidity is perfect, they shed all in one piece and have never had mites. They also eat regularly, digest fine, poop fine. Any improvements I can make, I do. I honestly thought that the people in this hobby were in it for the sake of the love of snakes. I know alot of people are in it for the money. But the others, I honestly dont even understand why you are in the hobby if you cannot just enjoy your snakes, enjoy everyone elses snake photos and just be peaceful with them. If someone posts a photo with their 2 snakes that are housed together, if you were to comment Gina, as you are probably unaware, it really is not the best practice to house multiple snakes in one enclosure. It really would be best for the both of them to have their own space. I know I would be more willing to change how I keep my snakes if something was said nicely rather than hatefully. there so much hate and negativity in the hobby Im honestly considering removing myself from these groups. The hatefulness even started rubbing off on me to where i actually did call a person ignorant because they housed a boa and a bp together. And i feel bad about that and have since made a point to get away from the negativity. I hate that everyone cannot just enjoy the hobby and offer help to their fellow reptile lovers. I hope Im not the only one that feels this way. I dont even WANT to ask for advice any more just because of the negative comments and the slew of hateful private messages I receive because of it. I have a few select breeders that I go to for my information and questions now. They dont criticize me for doing something wrong, rather they commend my efforts to make things better and do them correctly.
