I wanted to share this video with you in light of the conflict that is occurring in Gaza at the moment because it touched me more than any of the images that I have seen so far of the on going war. It IS possible to resolve political issues, no matter how complex, how entrenched or protracted they may be. By virtue of being feminists we inherently believe this to be a given fact. All it takes is a desire from people to bring about a change. And what better example than to see people coming together with love and in solidarity in one of the most complex and violent situations right now? While to those dying and suffering a hashtag my not mean much in terms of safety or security, what these activists are doing is trying to create an alternative counter discourse in relation to the dominant dialogue between Jewish and Muslim people involved in this issue. This dialogue, involving refusal to hate and promoting a message of love, is not one that we hear about often, but it is essential for those of us privileged enough to be outside observes that we see that this discourse DOES exist! It is even more important for those directly affected by this brutal war to see messages of love to each other from the other side. While hiding in a bomb shelter How much hope would you gain if you could read messages of love from the other side??? This is why the internet and social media is such a powerful and incredible method of raising awareness, promoting a more positive perspective, and bringing like minded people together in solidarity; most importantly this movement is showing that if those who live in this part of the world and who see the violence and the hate can STILL believe in love and solidarity and humanity then there is hope for all of us
