I wanted to take a moment and personally extend my deepest heartfelt sympathies to all of the families directly affected by the loss of these 19 heroes, and to the lone survivor. I further wish to extend my sympathies to ALL the families of ALL the heroes that have been killed or injured fighting Wildland Fires. I have been honored to be asked to assist Bill Benson, and Jon Folbrecht who are the founders of Heroes Memorial Foundation. I met Bill during the tragedy of West Webster, his dedication to helping folks he does not know much like the brave men and women who go into the hills to fight the beast is beyond commendable and if more people were like Bill the world would be a much better place. When I first talked to Jon and he asked if I would be willing to help I said sure, I understand Firefighters I understand tragedy. Was I mistaken, I knew nothing about Wildland Firefighters. Living in upstate NY, we do not have wild fires. Hell we may have a couple of weeks in the early spring which are "no burn" days. So I had to spend many hours researching the missions, the way the mission is accomplished but the one thing that stood out was the number of men and woman who have been injured and killed doing this mission. A thank you does not even begin to repay what these folks give up and do. I will continue to whatever I can to help you folks, to ensure that not only are the Granite Mountain Hotshot Team is not forgotten, but all the others that have gone before, and sadly those who lose the battle in the future. I ask you to all keep all these folks in your thoughts and prayers. Admin Paul Hood
