I wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday! Went to your room, but you were not there. So I went to the yard where I usually find you, watching the sunrise. There we sat admiring the colors dance across the sky. Its so hard to think past the sound of the skateboard wheels spinning quickly against the concrete patio and you talking over the noise. But today is different; quiet. Just the cool breeze on my warm skin and the almost silent sound of the leaves rustling around the yard. For a brief moment I felt empty. Then thought I heard, mom, you look like you need a hug (you always had perfect timing with that). I smiled as you filled my entire being. I will never hear your footsteps, your laughter, that noise, but forever I will feel your love. You no longer live in this house, but forever in my heart.
