I was a 12yr old boy sitting in the Rosevale cinema Glasgow watching a John Wayne film. All of a sudden, a slip of paper was projected onto the screen, stating that President Kennedy had been shot in Dallas and that he had died. People immediately jumped up from their seats, shouting and screaming and running out of the cinema onto the main road which was Dumbarton Road. Everybody ran out of their houses on that road and were shouting and crying. Very scarey stuff for a 12yr old. My father was Ch/Tech on Vulcan bombers and they were put on standby.We were all living under the nuclear threat in those days and it had only been a year since the Cuban missile crisis.
