I was a commercial lender at one of the five largest banks in the US. In 1999 I began to become ill with an increasingly serious series of health issues. In May of 2000 I was finally diagnosed with 3rd stage Lyme Disease. Because of the progression of the illness, I was forced to go on long term disability in 2001. I am a graduate of the Fox School of Business at Temple University. I have a Summa cum Laude degree in Economics with a double major in Labor Relations. Prior to the onset of my illness I could do regression analysis equations in my head. Now, I can’t do long division. Any one, medical professional or not, who says that this disease can be cured with a month or so of oral antibiotics has his/her head firmly his/her buttocks. I lost my job, my career, and my savings. Blue Cross labeled all of my treatments “experimental” and refused to cover them.
