I was able to do a bike ride this morning and this evening. I was able to hold in my mind for extended periods a direct awareness of the simple overwhelming miracle of this human life. Our human consciousness is the great miracle of this universe. I do not believe in "miracles". I see no function in this universe to explain how water can be turned into wine, how a dead person can be returned to life, how there can be life of any kind after our bodies are dead and decomposed. Indeed, there can be no consciousness without a corporeal existence: No disembodied spirits - no angels - no presence of our dead loved ones outside of our powerful imaginations. There must be substance for there to be consciousness, A human body and human consciousness are a key part of this great miraculous universe. We are the way, the truth and the universal life, we are the way this universe has created to experience itself through this means, this human life. We are the Universe looking out of our eyes at this incredible creation. We are alive in our little corner of infinity. We are alive in these miraculous bodies in the single ongoing eternal moment, in short: We are alive in eternity. It is possible to cultivate an ongoing appreciation of the miracle by first choosing to see beauty everywhere around us, and by choosing to actively love everything we see. We can choose see this life as it really is, the great miracle. As we look back to the beginning of this universe, there was infinite unmanifest potential before the"Big Bang". The "Big Bang" saw the creation of (I apologize for the following crude over simplification) electrons, protons, and neutrons and a vast release of energy across the full available spectrum of wavelengths. The particles created vast clouds of hydrogen which created stars, which in their turn created all other elements as their nuclear fusion furnaces aged and eventually blew up, creating cascade fusion reactions producing the full representation of the periodic table of the elements. We had a dead universe with amazing creative potential. And here we are: the way that the universe has transcended mere matter and energy to create life, and consciousness. Celebrate this life by serving each person how ever you can.
