I was able to watch "On the Job" again. This time alone, at the front row all by myself, immersed fully into the details of the movie. And all I can say is "WOW!" WOW - As a movie, definitely outstanding: a riveting story, crisp editing (the best I have ever seen in a Filipino movie, superb acting by everyone but especially Joel Torre and Joey Marquez. WOW - also in a confused way, not sure whether I should come out of the movie happy (hooray for Philippine cinema) or depressed (because the truth about our country can really overwhelm). For now, I will content myself with the way the review below describes director Eric Matti - I too have "a heartbroken social conscience".
