I was addressing a formal email to an upper level executive admin - TopicsExpress

I was addressing a formal email to an upper level executive admin person who is a woman. Ive never met her in person and only had a brief but cordial telephone conversation and certainly didnt know her marital status which raised this dilemma. Understanding how trends and standards change, what is the proper salutation? Dear Miss, Dear Mrs., Dear Ms.?, Yo!. Since Gloria Steinem introduced the concept and magazine Ms. in the 70s and 80s Ive always used Ms. as a general title. How do women of all age groups and demographics react to Ms.? Has the then-trendy title outlived its usefulness? Or is it ageless? Are we retroing to Miss and Mrs. again? Is there a new designation? Is one needed? What do you think?
