I was asked to post the poem that was used at the UIL in Austin I Am “I am all that I am and that is enough for me So don’t ask me to be something I was never meant to be” Robert Luna I am a voice of a generation on the verge of extinction Lost looking for dedication I am creation The future and past made flesh I am the embodiment of blood, sweat, and tears of those unforgettable pioneers evolutionist, revolutionist leading a charge, stroking the flames for change I am a guerrilla poet spreading a message of hope From coast to coast and across oil-drenched seas I am the disease of this nation’s democratic hypocrisy I am who Martin Luther King was speaking to when he said “I have a dream” I am every tear shed on the path of the Trail Of Tears Every drop of blood spilled in the name of freedom Every woman, man, and child lay slain at the massacre of Wounded Knee I am the entanglement of good and evil I am man a man that’s not afraid to embrace the human race and all of its disgrace After all we’re all struggling to survive this, what we know as life. I am everything you think I am but so much more I am the shoulders that carry the burden of an uncertain future I am potential, unseen possibilities the blue-collared hero Overworked and unpaid I am America the red, white, and blue I am the fist of Gonzo the words that remain unwritten I am the hammer that shattered the Berlin Wall I am revolutionary giving birth to revolution waiting for evolution to begin I am the Renegade I am a truth seeker searching for enlightenment I am a warrior fighting for peace I am the ghost of the past and present Not letting you forget about the ugliness of now and then, yesterday or today I am harshness of reality the homeless, the addicted, the battered and abused I am the accused awaiting justice where money buys freedom I am a thought provoker I am a dreamer, I am determination Perseverance and hope I am love I...... I am You and we Hold the key to unlocking the future of possibilities
