I was asked whats my problem today? Why do I have a game on for political parties ( politely speaking). We the voters wonder where the candidates are. I am sure its easier to change only the first names on ballot literature when working with the voting machines but it does make a voter wonder when a complete name change on these machines will happen or is there only a limited supply of candidates with different last names available in some counties. I and many others have noticed when looking through county directories many last names being the same in county offices. We wonder if there are dna tests required at holidays to determine which dependents gifts are delivered to. We understand it saves money not having to change nametags and lettering on office doors but lets get real you can only recycle so much. The party leaders wonder why membership is falling one reason is even people living in trailer parks need change of scenery. As a voter and an observer I get to see and hear both sides of the argument and choose a side to laugh at. In this case both sides are funny. Fear of voting in public is fear of the party chair and their monitors getting your name for not supporting the chairs candidate could get you god knows what. Voting in secret is against committee by laws and gets the chair in trouble. No clear winner. At least in Mahoning county there is no wall of death, not yet anyway. I hear there is an App of shame though. tried to find it on google play but it must be a party app only. This is a long post so intermission is necessary to break. smoke your medical joint. sip your wine or scotch........................... OK. I hear every meeting I attend is that the state cut the funding to the county and that is why we have to increase sales tax amounts to maintain services to the residents. partly true. some costs have risen some not. The CSB wants more money due to increased property values. the sales tax is going up 1/4 % to cover increases in costs. the rest is a renewal ear marked for safety services right? Not so fast. One of our commissioners stated its just a shell game they are allotted only so much money and not a dime more. they will not be given tax money at the expense of another department. so much for that promise. I understand the safety services mandates must be funded but so is welfare so is the roads department so is all the other departments under the budget of the county commissioners. What will really smash the lamp is if one department head gets one dime in pay increase and just one time a service is not available due to that dimes loss. politicians need and want voter support and when they finally get it they change the arrangement at the last minute. some that should know better think its a necessity or ok to elongate the truth just a little to get what is needed. we dont think so. the voters need the real truth about the situation the county is in.
