I was asked why I am doing all this work for the Devils Den. First is that I am really into Halloween and the Devils Den is like a Halloween event all summer long. Some people go all out for Christmas, well I like to go all out for Halloween. Second is when I first started inspecting rides at Conneaut Lake Park, the Den was one of the first rides I inspected. When I first walked through the Den, only a few lights on the stunts worked and most of the stunts did nothing. I took it as a project to fix what was there and later decided to slowly upgrade and replace some of the stunts. There was one stunt that was nothing but a visible 2x4 frame with a set of coveralls on it with a rubber mask on a 5 gallon bucket. Crappy to say the least. I believe that a dark ride should be dark and then suddenly something pops up, jumps out at you giving you a scare. Third, if I did not do this, I sometimes think no one else would and the ride would slowly deteriorate. The Devils Den is a classic ride and there is very few of the Pretzel dark rides remaining. And finally, it is my way of supporting Conneaut Lake Park, and because I want to! P.S. I really dont like the gum wall, but have never been able to keep people from putting their damn gum on it.
