I was at the Valhalla Cinema in Richmond in the mid-80s, waiting - TopicsExpress

I was at the Valhalla Cinema in Richmond in the mid-80s, waiting for something else (it might have been a film of the Wagner opera Parsifal), when, unannounced, the projectionist played about the last half hour of this. Needless to say, it blew my tiny mind. Ive not found it again till today. It features the 11-piece Caledonian Soul Orchestra, at the Rainbow Theatre in London. It took me another 10 years or so to find the album from this tour (Its Too Late To Stop Now) which is regularly in the upper reaches of the greatest live album polls. It supplied the ambit of my perfect live band. String section, horns, keys and the rest. I hope that, one day, I can do a bang-up show with a band as large and skilled as this. If you are time-poor, just catch the last half-hour, which is out of sight.
