I was born 20 years or more too late. I caught only the very last - TopicsExpress

I was born 20 years or more too late. I caught only the very last vestiges of beatdom which began its most energetic & noisy journey on the day I was born. Jack Kerouac hitchhiked within spitting distance of my house within a week of my birth, on his way from NYC to Denver across route 6 with a few off trails, then S.F., and then the world of the beat thereafter. I missed knowing Neal Cassady & Carolyn, and later Kesey when Neal was driving him all over the place like he had Kerouac before him, although I did meet Allen Ginsberg for a few moments along with others of us from the hip generation who came later. I missed that seminal time, a time that we all say defines a generation of beats, but truth be known, we in my generation were just extensions of them with higher tech tools & a bit more laziness in our lifestyle. https://youtube/watch?v=DZhM-AcCzNU
