I was cleaning - trying to make some sense of the world and came - TopicsExpress

I was cleaning - trying to make some sense of the world and came up with the following based on my thoughts as to whether the general public and masses are being given a fair deal on deciding how to live their lives. Most people dont really have any original thoughts in their head in that they believe what they are told - especially if they are being told by people or organisations with some sort of authority, large presence or status in society. This is why advertising is such a popular source of revenue for big companies and organisations. Couple that advertising with celebrity endorsement, in this now celebrity saturated and obsessed culture, and it seems to me it is a license to print money - no matter what rubbish or idea they are selling if a celebrity says its OK - it must be?! At no point do I think I hear anyone telling people you dont need that big screen TV to make you happy, you dont need to stuff yourself with junk food - look around and be grateful at what you do have rather than craving what you dont have. Its OK to not want these things, its OK not to buy into the idea you need these things, its OK to be different. If celebrity culture is so great, why are most of the celebrities constantly unhappy? People seem to have no balance in their lives any more either. They dont seem to understand there will be bad times as well as good. The minute there is something bad happening it becomes wrong that it is happening to them and they try to blame someone else. Surely the bad times are what make the good times better and more appreciated and coming through them makes people stronger and more satisfied with daily reality. I am not, by any stretch of the imagination, saying people should enjoy feeling down, rather than accept that it will happen and understand it is not wrong, it is a part of life. It is a grey, wet and horrible day today, I am tired, I get up extremely early to start an enormous amount of work, I am grieving the loss of one of our friends, I have to go running and face the traffic and tractors, return home and do a lot more work and eventually (hopefully) roll into bed tonight having to face it all again tomorrow. However, I am not unhappy, I am pleased I am physically able to do it, realise I am lucky to have what I have and not be suffering as many, many millions are right at this very moment in time.
