I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes in 2010 when I was pregnant with my baby girl, after giving birth, unlike some women the diabetes didnt leave. I was then diagnosed with type ii diabetes shortly after her birth. To add to the list of things I already had going on health wise. I was 34 years old, Morbitly Obese weighing 282 lbs at only 52, hypertensive, high cholesterol, diabetic with chronic sleep apnea and rheumatoid arthritis. Doctors said if I didnt take control of my health I wouldnt even live to be 60. One day while at work my Sgt Julio A Monroy called me over and started questioning me about my health. He asked had ever considered weight loss surgery. I said no sir, not ever. He said before u count it out, do some research on your own. So I started my research. I watched YouTube videos, I googled everything known to man about each procedure out there. I watched ppl transform via video. I saw the GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY side of WLS and I was convinced. I started eating healthier, I started going to a personal trainer Dee Icanfitness and I lost 40 lbs , but I still had all the same Health problems. So I decided to Take my life back and go forth with the surgery. On August 6, 2013 I had gastric sleeve surgery. it was the BEST decision Ive made my whole life. I am no longer Diabetic, or hypertensive, I no longer have sleep apnea or high cholesterol and have only had 1 episode of flare from my arthritis in a whole year. Not to mention Im weighing in at 208 lbs today... I FEEL like a brand new person inside and out... so thank you Sgt... u helped change my life
