I was diagnosed with young-onset Parkinsons Disease on 22 May - TopicsExpress

I was diagnosed with young-onset Parkinsons Disease on 22 May 2005. I spent the next two years studying every night for hours the disease, the treatments, and the outcomes. I learned that it is a progressive, degenerative neurological disorder that continually gets worse and never gets better. I focused on discussion boards where real people discussed their very real problems dealing with the disorder and with the terribly powerful mind altering medications used to mask the symptoms. I thought this knowledge would enable me to protect myself and my family from the awful outcomes that many Parkinsons sufferers encounter. e.g, compulsive gambling and all of the related destructive impulsive behaviors that one can become involved in. II am now almost 10 years down the road, and I was wrong. That knowledge was not enough.I am not a compulsive gambler. That is much too straight forward and easy to identify as out off bounds.
