I was doing a wee bit of sorting out (very wee!) & came across an old journal from 2010. I made mention of a documentary that I had heard was going to be coming out - You Dont Like The Truth: 4 Days Inside Guantanamo - taken from video recordings of questioning of Omar Khadr, the 15 year old (Canadian) who was seized in Afghanistan, accused of throwing a grenade & killing an American medic & of planting mines (he was unconscious with a chest wound when they captured him). He was held in Guantanamo for 10 years without charge. Finally, he pleaded guilty as the only way to get sent to prison in Canada. He is 28 years old now. Still in jail. This case was pivotal for me - when we are offering rehabilitation & education to other child soldiers - some of whom have brutally murdered people - & yet our government (Harper) would not step in & fight for this kid. This was the case that turned me away from Harper - anyone who could do this to a child is morally corrupt & callous. Heck, theres not a SHRED of proof that he was even a soldier! Let alone capable of throwing a grenade. Anyway - here is link to YouTube video trailer of that documentary (I have bought it). I do not understand why it has not made more waves. This is such a blatant abuse of power & justice by Americans - the brutal, heartlessness of their military, as well as that of our Harper government. youtube/watch?v=dZrERVO19Dg
