I was finally able to do a rye flour wash without all the mess and combing flakes out of my hair afterward! I got the idea from someone on here, and it worked wonderfully! This is what I did: Sift about 4 tablespoons of rye flour into a bowl. (4 was enough for me, I have medium length, pretty thin hair) Mix in some water until the flour is all absorbed. (I also add some DWV to mine because my hair needs it -- I also let this mixture sit for a few hours before I used it, I dont think that step is necessary) *purple bowl* Take an old (or new) pair of nylons and cut the end (foot) off of them and clean them with some water, then pour the rye flour mix into the nylon. (I did this a little at a time so I didnt make a big mess, and so I could get more of the wash out of the flour) Squeeze the nylon until all the liquid is out. It will be much more watery than the original mix. *yellow bowl* The leftover chunks of rye flour (the parts that get stuck in your hair) are left inside the nylon. I then took the watery mixture and put it into a condiment container (bought at Walmart for $1) and put that mixture onto my hair, lathered it up like shampoo and let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing.
