I was gathering and cleaning some of my gifted Leather for an upcoming quest to be Mr. Bluegrass Leather, I came across some collectibles that Bobby Connell gave me from when we lived in New Orleans from 2005 through 2010. The first full blown Mardis Gras a year after Hurricane Katrina was crazy fun. I was hit in the head by this CocoNut seed hollowed out by the Krewe du Zulu...I was instantly made the Zulu King for Mardis Gras 2006. It was stuffed with all kinds of goodies. The Copper Pig and the Rosary were surprises given to me by Bobby from our antiquing on Canal Street, he loved surprising me after making me guess what it was. Most of the time I had no clue what it was...he LOVED surprises and most the time the collectibles were delivered to the house by the Curator. Here is a photograph of the house we had just a block from Bourbon Street. Bobby and I would sit in the front Parlour in the wee hours of the morning and watch the parade of partygoers and locals sluff up the street disappearing into the early Light of the Dawn...it was a sight to make you chuckle. I can hear Bobby giggling now, punching me in the arm to look at the spectacle being made. I would get brave and sit on the front stoop sometimes giving the Queens walking up the street with the hair and heels in their hand a bit of encouragement. Miss ya Bobby Connell but you are with me Forever in Spirit! OINK! #NOLAtimesforKentuckyboyz #PigrUs #BobbyConnellwasmybestbud #OINK
