I was going to post this up last night but had a little problem with getting home from work, turning the computer on and having my eyes slam tightly shut. Anyhow yet again at work yesterday we had proof that most of the Surf problems are not restricted to Surfs and the funny thing is the vehicle in question is an Aus new RN105 Hilux which was in for a rear main seal and clutch. So doing the right thing for a learning curve I gave the job to my T/A (who is getting signed up on a mature aged apprenticeship on Monday next week) and instructions were given as to how to get the gearbox out. After quite a lot of Terse words and tools flying around he came and got me with the question where are all these f@cking bolts you said coz I can only find the top two and one on the starter motor... I kid you not thats all that was there holding the gearbox in. Not to mention the fact that the gearbox crossmember bolts were stripped as well. Not just one but all of them. When we got the box out the rear main leak was because the seal was fitted around the wrong way, so we figured that a good inspection was in order. Next problem was the small issue that the radiator for some reason was held in with cable ties. Corrected that and a few other problems within the owners budget and he went home a happy man
