I was having a discussion with my musical guru about the trends in bass playing today and how people are gravitating to the same sound. Seeing trends come and go can be confusing for musicians. He said it best. Each era produces a style all its own. Ive noticed this as well. The reason for the similarity in tone and playing is because it is too hard for many bass players to ignore someone elses musical contribution and create something almost from nothing. Yup, confusion gone.
