I was having my regular cup of coffee and dont really know why - TopicsExpress

I was having my regular cup of coffee and dont really know why that I read the label on my coffee creamer. However, I did and saw some ingredients that I was not familiar with. I decided that I would investigate and this is what I found: Partial ingredients from CLOVER VALLEY Fat Free Non-Dairy Creamer: I just happened to read a list of ingredients on my coffee creamer, and I decided to look up these ingredients on the web and see what they actual were. I was simply amazed at what I found. Needless to say (and don’t think that I am overreacting), but I think that I will use just real cow’s milk or almond milk from this day forward. The other alternative is to drink my coffee black. SODIUM CASEINATE is the biochemical name for casein, which is a type of protein found in the milk from all mammals. Casein, which is Latin for “cheese,” is a major component of commercial cheese and its principle source of protein. Casein is also used as a food additive and for industrial purposes. Some people are allergic to sodium caseinate, and it has been linked to some human diseases, mainly autism and gastrointestinal problems. Consult with an allergy specialist if you suspect an allergy or intolerance to any casein-based product. Reports published in the Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology and the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry indicate that stabilizing casein and other molecules by alkalization with sodium hydroxide creates many potentially harmful by-products. Since the pH of the protein and by-products has been altered, your kidneys end up having more difficulty purifying the material moving through them. This lack of purification has the potential to cause a systematic shutdown of the kidneys that may cause eventual kidney failure. You should note that small amounts of sodium caseinate in any food product should not cause kidney problems and that the Food and Drug Administration controls use of sodium caseinate; however, ingesting sodium caseinate in a large quantity has the potential to cause harm. DIPOTASSIUM PHOSPATE (sometimes abbreviated DKP) has the chemical formula K2 H PO4, and is made by reacting appropriate amounts of potassium hydroxide (KOH) or potassium oxide (K2O) with phosphoric acid (H3PO4). It is a highly water-soluble salt. Pure DKP is a slightly hygroscopic (meaning it tends to attract water from the atmosphere) white powder. It is commonly used as a fertilizer. It is used in non-dairy creamers as a stabilizer, thickener, emulsifier. It is a chemical used to control acidity and prevent coagulation. SILICON DIOXIDE, also known as silica (from the Latin silex), is a chemical compound that is an oxide of silicon with the chemical formula SiO2. Silicon dioxide is obtained by mining and purification of the resulting mineral. Quartz comprises more than 10% by mass of the earths crust. Commercial silicon dioxide is also produced, almost always via the processing of quartz, synthetically on a very large scale. Silica is used primarily in the production of glass for windows, drinking glasses, beverage bottles, and many other uses. The majority of optical fibers for telecommunication are also made from silica. It is a primary raw material for many ceramics such as earthenware, stoneware, and porcelain. Silica is a common additive in the production of foods, where it is used primarily as a flow agent in powdered foods, or to absorb water in hygroscopic applications.
