I was honoured to be asked to address the 2014 Graduates from Bellerose CHS this morning. The sense of hope, energy and vision was powerful in the room. What great staff, family and students. I had 10 minutes, so I had to make it snappy. There are two,things I forgot to say! The first is that, like in the video game Legend of Zelda, in life we will encounter the dark places, the difficult passages, that we are afraid to enter. But we must go forward anyway! Its in those places we fear that our treasure awaits. Sure, sometimes its just 5 rupees, but sometimes its a map! Lol The second is that the accumulation of stuff will never fill the void within us, will never make us feel secure. Not really. The only time you should count your wealth vs your neighbours wealth is to make sure they have enough. That void in every person can only be filled with love, with living our lives in purpose, which in the end simply means in service of our fellow person and all life on this small earth. I missed saying those things, but then I would have gone over time and Im sure a thousand stomachs were grumbling for lunch! :) Congratulations graduates everywhere. You are our hope for the future.
