I was hospitalized once due to viral fever. My mom was waiting on - TopicsExpress

I was hospitalized once due to viral fever. My mom was waiting on me and one day, a Chinese lady opposite my bed was having trouble breathing. She clutched the oxygen mask, and frantically waved to the people and nurses walking by but no one bothered to help her. I was hooked to multiple IV lines so I asked my mother to go rub and pat the breathless ladys back and my mother did as I told. The poor lady approved my mothers gesture and my mother kept at it until the ladys husband and doctor came to give the lady proper treatment. The Chinese lady and her husband thanked my mother profusely. Why I am writing this all of a sudden? It is because I came across a racist today who told me I am betraying my race by rooting for the Chinese. But, I have received kindness from the Chinese and Malays who are my fellow compatriots. My Chinese landlady gave me some painkillers when she heard me moaning in pain because of stomach cramps when I was home alone. When I got sick during my stay in my Chinese friends place when taking the STPM exam, her aunt took me to the clinic and then for dinner at their favourite Chinese restaurant. When I was short of 10 cents when buying nasi lemak in the school canteen, the makcik kantin said, Takpe dik, adik ambil.. We live in a beautiful, harmonious country. Yes, there are unfair systems but the love and care we have for our nation and fellow Malaysians is what that really matters at the end of the day. Please dont let several bad apples hamper our Malaysian spirit.
