I was humbled to join the Mwangaza CBO Committee for their monthly development forum at the Kibaoni Primary School. The CBO brings together the residents of Kilifi township area. During the forum, we discussed quite a number of issues in specific sectors, ranging from Education, Security, Health, Environment, Tourism, Trade amongst others. I want to appreciate the role played by the CBO in highlighting the areas and sectors that need to be improved to so as to raise the living standards of our good people of Kilifi town. Already, we have completed the first phase of improving the Charo wa Mae Market by erecting the wall fence. Second phase will include improvement of the drainage system, modern stalls and lighting. In the health sector, we are expanding the hospital emergency unit, procuring modern digital X-Ray machines, improving the operation theatre facility by fixing modern anaesthetic machines and expanding of the mortuary. In lands, we have identified two settlement schemes where surveying and planning is already underway; Ukombozi and Makao areas. In these areas, we have already created access roads for ease of access and service provision. We are also improving our roads by raising the standards to tarmac and cabro. This will come to completion by end of the financial year. The project has already began in Kibaoni area, and next point will be Mtaani village. Town beautification is also another point of interest and I urge all the youth groups to come up with proposals of how they can make our town a beautiful place to be. This will include planting of trees along alleys, flowers in beds, creating of litter bins and resting area in strategic points of our town. On security, we have set up 2 High mast lighting poles at Marembo and Kiwandani to illuminate the areas at night and give light to the residents. We shall put more of such lights at Kisumu Ndogo, Kasarani, Manarani, Makao/Kwa Mawango, Kibaoni and Mtaani. We also agreed to form a community policing unit that will be run by the residents of Kilifi. Finally I want to urge all the residents of Kilifi town especially the youth to set up groups and CBOs and come up with proposals that can improve the lives of our people. By so doing, we will achieve our dreams in the most efficient and shortest time possible. God bless Kilifi, God bless Kenya.
