I was in New York last week. Yashi Brown invited me out to host - TopicsExpress

I was in New York last week. Yashi Brown invited me out to host Austin Browns musical show and perform poetry with her and I was honored. BET was gonna be there and everything. I was excited. Something happened that changed the whole course of the day. Whenever I am this giddy, I joke around with any and everyone that passses by. But on this day, the majority of the places I went, people were looking at me like I was crazy. They were giggling and basically thought I was a weirdo. I stopped by Penn Station and went to the little Krispy Kreme shop inside. The crew of about four people were constantly laughing AT me as I spoke. They literally could not contain themselves. I asked them what was up ane tried to hide there uncontrollable laughter and said nothing. I joked a little bit with them and they just looked at me like I was lower than the dirt they walked on. Why did I let them make me feel so low, I will never know...but I did. I was dejected. As soon as I stepped away from the donut shop, a young man bumped into me. After picking up my napkins, he was like, Hey, arent you Poetri? He went on to say that he loved my work and I was one of his favorite poets. His words could not have been more on time. He literally changed the course of my day. Words are so powerful. God is so awesome. After talking with him for a minute, I left feeling renewed. I did Austins show with a smile the whole night. Thank you Lord for the young man that came and spoke light into my life that night.
