I was in the air on 9/11 heading from Palm Beach, FLA to Columbus, OH. Jennifer had a later flight back to Michigan. They never said anything on the flight however didn’t do the normal in flight drinks etc. The flight crew all huddled up at the front of the plane and I remember being a little bothered wondering why. It wasn’t until we landed and everyone was told to leave the plane that you started hearing the FAA announcements and saw glimpses on the TV monitors. I rushed to the hotel and called the hotel we had in Florida to make try and catch Jenn but she had already left. I called the rental car to make sure they didn’t let her turn in her car but I couldn’t remember when her flight was so I got on line to check that and remember the sigh of relief when I saw that hers was cancelled as there was so much uncertainty even as to if she had already turned in her car already.. I called the Hotel in Palm Beach and asked them to keep the room open for her and for her to call me as soon as she returned. Called the Rental car again and told them to tell her to go back to the hotel right away. I then called family and work to let them know we had not been on any of the planes involved.. It still today sends so many emotions through me when writing or talking about this today. Not for me but for those that didn’t have good news to share or receive….. I can imagine waiting for a response or wondering if the information was true or praying for the best…. My heart and memories go out to all those lives lost and their family’s everyday but especially today GOD bless and keep you all.
