I was introduced to skateboarding in Sept 1960 at Reed College By fellow freshman Steve Simmons - his board was hand made he was introduced to the skate board at Pacific Palisades High school in Los Angeles. By June of 1964 I took a commercialy built Board to New York City and used it in Washington Square and Central Park - I taught skate boarding to Amy Arbus when she was 9, before taking it to Kampala and Makerere University where I am sure it was the first Skate board in East Africa. I love the Idea of Skatestan and the 750 girls in Afganistan who have been taught The Right to Play.
